I do like DeWalt tools. I have a variety of cordless tools. DeWalt, Porter Cable, Hitachi, Craftsman, etc... DeWalt does last, is strong but I will say for an inexpensive cordless tool, Hitachi is your best bet. Very reasonable, and a very good tool. Go to EBAY, under cordless tools type in drilling 99, they are a good supplier in Hitachi. Some are reconditioned but still like new and fully guaranteed. Also under "diamond drilling & supply" Check them out, you'll be glad you did

Lots of the answers seem to reflect the users brand-loyalty. I'd ignore most of the replies and checkout Consumer's Reports. Also, do some more web research. And go to the manufacturer's sites - they may have additional info and discounts. Home Deot, Lowes, and Menards host special sales periodically, so give them a shot too. Good luck.

Best for a hammer drill is either Milwaukee or Hilti. These are originally contractor lines that are now sold in many contractor lumber yards and some Big Boxes like depot or lowes. Not sure which but they are really tough. Dewalt is popular because they spend a ton on advertising. I think they are owned by Black and Decker so that may explain their big advert budget. You will spend more but will be real happy with the tool.

DeWalt is a fine cordless but for the serious workers and you know who you are I suggest Bosch. Made for heavyduty work load, very well built and will out last most on the market. Spend the extra money to get the best!!

My husband has a few Dewalt drills and I love using them. He swears by them and uses them at work a lot. He does have the cordless ones and they seem to keep their charge a very long time. I was at first skeptical over the price, but ours have been well worth the price! Good luck!

all of the dewalt dools are worth their money, my husband was a builder and has used different brands before but always ends up buying dewalt and they last so much longer. it pays to buy the more expensive ones.

Yes they are the best, 12v are a bit short on power, and I found the 18v too heavy.
I have a 14.4 volt S/H that I was about to put on Ebay. Model is DW984. Mail me if interested.
