Can Anybody Tell Me If The Firestorm Brand Cordless Drills Are Any Good.?
I see that they have an 18 volt kit that comes with the drill,circular saw , 2 batteries,a charger and a worklight for $100.00 Is this a good deal or not. I know that Lowes carrys this brand and that it is made by Black and Decker.

All the above is TRUE about CORDLESS TOOLs though I have had contractors in my home that carry I couldn’t even count how many DEWALT 18 volt battery packs that had constantly recharging but the crew of 4 must have had at least 8 to 10.
I owned a BLACK & DECKER 14.4volt Drill & Flashlight & 2 battery set myself that I might use occasionally but a WORD TO THE WISE, don’t recharge batteries continuously bec these RECHARGEABLE will give you less life. I actually use the FLASHLIGHT more to walk the dog at night, Halloween and on long road trips. Needless to say I wasn’t happy when both rechargeable batteries failed & would no longer keep charge. Finally I broke down and bought a geuine B&D replacement at the OUTLET MALL in Maine and just one battery was like $25.
Also my Dad was a Jack of all Trades and I still use his high ampered SKILL DRILL (has plenty of torque that is not always true of a cordless drill) stored in my double tier CRAFTSMAN TOOL CHEST full of nice quality tools…but I was talking to my Brother in Law who is equally good like my Dad with Table Saw & whole bunch of woodworking equipment and was surprised to hear him say that his son/my nephew who graduated from US Naval Academy Annapolis w/BS Mechanical Engineering degree has a garage full of tools & equipment bec he likes to build his own furniture and at one time swore how great cordless tools use to be <= he doesn’t any more…

Well if all of this comes under a 100 dollars it is telling you something. What are you going to use the drill for? Just light work? If it is for heavy use, I would not waste my money. Heavy duty works calls for a stronger heavy duty drill. But if you want to hang pictures or screw in a bluebird box or something it might last a little while. My boyfriend is a contractor, and he uses drills up the you know what. He always buys dewalt, but he has bought Makita, and it seem to be holding up so far. But if you truly are going to use it all the time, I would spend more money on a better made drill. I hope this helps you. P. S. I do not mean he burns up the Dewalt ones that often, but he has bought cheaper, and cheaper you get. Oh also did not see where you said circular saw and worklight. Again, look at that price..nope not for me
I wouldn’t do it. I tried the drill and reciprocating saw. I charged the batteries up as per instructions. The batteries would NOT last in the saw. I received a brand new battery from Lowes, charged it, and the same thing happened. I could not ever cut 4″ on a 2×4 without the battery dieing. I took it all back to Lowes.

It’s a good set for what it is designed. It’s not a commercial duty or a construction tool, just a medium level home use. I worked for a contractor a few years ago who supplied every crew with them, I wore out 2 drills in 4 months. This was heavy daily use, not a homeowner situation.
yeah. i too suggest going with a bit more expensive drill and not anything made by black and decker–stick with a milwaukee or bosch drill (or any power tool). The added cost will be worth it, even if you only use it occasionally…DeWalt makes good tools also…
it’s okay for a weekend warrior, but not if you’re going to use it for daily work. If this drill is for work go with a Milwaukee you pay more up front, but they’re made to last
If you are going to use your drill a couple of times a year, it might work. After working on my third or fourth drill in a few years, I’m leaning more toward corded varieties. You can get a good contractors model for $60-100 and it will likely last forever as well as being more powerful.
