@juggernautxtr you sir, were extremely lucky with your Ryobi, that's all. As a brand, Ryobi builds some of the poorest engineered, lightest duty tools around. If you keep betting on such a crap brand, it will surely let you down. Makita tools are some of the best built around. Along with Milwaukee, Bosch, DeWalt, which are other branded tools I've purchased. Good luck on your next Ryobi purchase... you're gonna need it.

This is the the most hand-friendly unit out there. The Impact driver is a must-have as well. Like one chap said, " They got the ergonomics perfect on this drill" ! . Here's a tip, fellas, If you need to drive spade bits concrete or steel all day, go electric. Most all cordless are not designed for prolong abuse.

A couple years have now passed. Time has shown these batteries do not last. Do a search on google and you will see. I had a battery go out after 8 months of professional use. My old Makita 18volt with NiMi batteries lasted for 3 years before a battery went bad. Perhaps it's time for another Makita Model 6347DWDE.

Had 3 of these Makita drills 1. batteries melt 2. motor started to smoke and then died 3. last drill just died! Get a dewalt DCD950/970 XRP which i did, and never had a problem! Dewalt also are more powerful and batteries last longer! as you can see with lots of comparing videos on youtube. i also like Milwaukee and (blue) bosch.

Are these LiMn cells standard 18650s? Sounds and looks about right to me. Do the Sonys have some special charge characteristics? I'm curious how Makita can bring them up to full charge in 15-20min in a safe manner that does not eventually ruin the cell. Yes, the smart circuit monitors charging voltage, current, and temperature.. but still. I'd also like to see a datasheet of these Sony cells if available.

As i said already, Konion( LiMn) and LiFePO4 are different chemistry. Dewalt A123 18V pack are in 6s2p LiFePO4 Makita Sony 18V pack are 5s2p LiMn These packs are for my very powerfull 5kW+ electric bike. Read my account you will see...

You need to have max speed on your dremel and to cut slowly withot pushing too much on the cutting disk.. Yes, to seperate the 2p cells i need to cut one end link.. I usually cut the negative.

they are a stupid tool. the normal makita cordless drill can drive screws heads right through a 4x2 even on the high speed low torque setting. they are extremely strong. i dont see any need for these impact drivers at all. maybe for fastening nuts on to bolt repeatedly you could justify having one, but not for fastening wood screws.

It is the greatest 18v there is! You forgot to mention the 3yr warranty on tool AND batteries! Makita replaced 2 batteries and charger for me in 15 mins! I use that 18v impact and I also use their 10.8v impact.
